The idea for my product is called “We Write.” It is a social media platform for writers of all skill levels to share their writings with one another. A user can upload their written work to the website and then other users can view and rate that work. As works are rated and feedback is given, a user will receive an overall rating on the quality of all of their works, and their reliability as a reviewer of other works. As some pieces become more and more popular they will receive more recognition, and works that are deemed inferior will receive less and less recognition as time goes on. My first goal for this product is to create a platform that allows writers of all skill levels to be able to share their work. Also included in the product would be a way for writers to sell the rights to their works if they want to. It could be through an auction-like set up or to a single person. Another goal that I have for my product is to give writers an opportunity to become connected with movie studios, TV studios, publishing companies, and other means of selling their work. This could allow for the discovery of great new writers for people, who otherwise, would never get the chance to be discovered. There are many talented writers out there, but sadly many of them may go undiscovered or do not become recognized for their works. This brings me to my third goal, which is to build a global platform for writers. This would allow people from all over the world to have a level playing field and offer opportunities for writers from parts of the world we don’t traditionally think of as a source of literature.
